US Patent Office tightens the screws on software patents

The Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences (BPAI), a key row inside of the Patent Office, has tightened the manners for American program patents. The recently-released preference builds on final year’s turning point statute by the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in the box of In Re Bilski. In which case, the Federal Circuit focused on commercial operation process patents and had left key questions about the patentability of software-related inventions unanswered.
